Standard Treatment Surgical removal of the tumor is the standard treatment for local disease. Combined chemotherapy with 5-FU and streptozocin is used in patients with metastases. A few patients with liver metastases benefit from liver resection or chemoembolization.
Palliation Drugs used to relieve symptoms include the insulin-inhibiting drug diazoxide and
phenoxybenzamine (Dibenzyline), an alpha-adrenergic blocking agent.
